About Corpus

We’ve been talking about Corpus since last semester and what comes up to my mind when I think of Corpus, now that I’m supposed to know what it is, is a collection of material or information (written or spoken) which shows us the words that are used the most, the most frequent words in a language.

It also shows us how can we use those words , in which context, in the proper situation and of course which words are currently used, because the language is always changing and we need to know what is happening with it: its evolution.

I’ve been reading some information about Corpus and what says there is that Corpus is some kind of recorded information about the frequent words that people use currently.

This research information is stored in a computer database and one of the main propose of this is to create a frequency word list or dictionaries.

In my point of view, it is necessary for a becoming teacher to know all this information because Corpus is an extremely important and useful tool for teachers because we need to be up date with the language, we need to know every daily word that is created so we could teach a good and useful language.
